Amelia Earhart became the first pilot to fly from Hawaii to California after shipping her Lockheed Vega to Honolulu. This photograph was made upon her arrival to the Bay Area.

The Pan American Clipper

Description:
 

The first commercial aircraft to fly to Hawaii was the "Pan American Clipper". The Sikorsky S42, piloted by Ed Musick, flew to Hawaii on the first of many flights to survey potential routes and landing spots for scheduled travel from Alameda to Manila. From this time forward flying to Hawaii would be a common event.
