  This is the first California-built plane to fly. It was flown by Weldon Cooke who also made the first flight over Oakland and the first flight over Mt. Tamalpais.

  A national airmail scandal in 1934 led to cancellation of airmail contracts with private airlines and brought on a reorganization in the aviation industry. During this period the Army Air Corps was enlisted to provide airmail service. This Army Corps aircraft is being fueled at Oakland Airport.
